Well Gemma has made it to New Zealand safe and sound. As I had been reading for the past 18 months she faired better than us from the big flight. I have written about her move on our blog at http://mishgeorgenz.wordpress.com/
In summary, all I read was correct. The dog is fine after the flight, Auckland airport is quite a faff, the dog recovers very quickly - far more quickly than us humans.
So glad to hear that Gemma made the Big Move OK! :-) Not that I had any doubts - you're right, we were MUCH more stressed than Honey - you should have seen her come out in her crate, with her paws crossed, as she was being carried by a forklift, looking like she was enjoying some kind of sightseeing tour! :-)
ReplyDeleteHope you're settling in OK. We've just come back from a long holiday overseas so are just catching up with blog friends.
Where in NZ are you settling?
Hsin-Yi
Hi Hsin-Yi, nice to hear from you. We are staying in the Waikato for now with my sister. Gemma is loving the action on the farm. A new calf was born this week and there are cows just outside the lounge. I love the picture of Honey being carried by the forklift, I can just imagine her. What did you do with Honey while you were away? I would love to feel that we could go away but am not sure how to deal with Gemma. Our van and caravan arrives in a couple of months so we will have a great NZ tour once they are here. We are off for a short break to Waiheke next week. I found a self contained place with private bay and dog friendly. Really looking forward to it. Georgina
